How to change the transmission oil in a M35A2 Deuce and a half. Below I have listed the different wrenches you may run across and the type of oil I'm using along with the capacity. -M35A2 Transmission Capacity -10.5 pints with PTO (the Deuce has a winch).
-M35A2 Transmission Capacity - 8.5 pints without PTO (the Deuce does not have a winch).
-Oil used - SAE 30 NON-DETERGENT MOTOR OIL. If you choose to use the military GL-5 oil make sure that it's, "Yellow Metal Safe" or it will corrode the bronze bushings. Also, 40 and 50 SAE NON-DETERGENT MOTOR OIL can also be used (many think 50 is best but I can never find it).
-Wrenches you may need- 7/16 Socket, 9/16 Hex Bit, 5/8 Open End Wrench, 1/2 Drive Ratchet. Check before you start because there are probably more options out there.
